Baby Registry Must Haves

Starting a baby registry can be very difficult and time consuming. I remember spending countless hours researching the best of the best for my baby. So this post will be a detailed version of what we registered for along with items we bought. You can also check out my pregnancy must haves and what’s in my hospital bag.

First and foremost, you will need to decide on what stores you would like to register at. I try to make things easier on others so I chose to just have one baby registry through Amazon. Plus, Amazon has many perks to having your registry through them. Such as:

  • Amazon Assistant- Add items from any site for you to manage your registry as easily as possible
  • Large Selection
  • Mobile Registry- Keep up with your registry on your phone.
  • 90 Day Returns!
  • Completion Discount – 10% for non prime members and 15% off for prime members. (You can only use this once so use it wisely).
  • Free shipping on orders over $49 and free two day shipping for Prime Members
  • Thank You List- Saves all the buyers information so you can send them a thank you note.
  • Prime Members- 20% off diaper subscriptions – Welcome Box

Pretty awesome right? Right now through August 10th they are having a great deal for those starting their registry – Baby Registry – $100 credit towards diapers and wipes!

Nursery

HALO Bassinest Swivel Sleeper Bassinet – Honeycomb – We bought the HALO Bassinest after finding out our son was diagnosed with periodic breathing. It gave me piece of mind knowing I didn’t have to get out of bed to check on him. It also is great for nursing mommas. I registered for two iLuvBamboo mattress pad covers and an extra fitted sheet. Both of these items came in handy because our son loves to lay on his side while sleeping resulting in pee running out of his diaper. I also purchased the storage caddy for pacifiers, bottles, and nighttime snacks.

L.A. Baby Portable Crib – Since I do not plan on putting our son in his room until after he is a year old, I decided to buy a folding portable crib. To be honest I wish I would have just bought this crib instead of the Bassinest just because it is multifunctional and it will last a lot longer. I like that the crib is a mini size because we are currently living in a smaller area than what we are used to. I also was happy that it came with its own mattress. I added two sets of sheets to the registry for the same reason I listed above.

Emma 4 in 1 Convertible Crib by Viv+Rae (Purchased through Wayfair but can also buy through Target under the name Baby Relax Lakeley). – I fell in love with this crib as soon as I laid eyes on it. I registered for the Safety 1st Transitions Baby and Toddler Mattress this way I wouldn’t have to purchase another mattress in the future. I purchased two white sheets, two mattress protectors and one printed sheet that went with his room theme. A friend of mine told me to stack them on top of each other so when he wets the bed I just pull one layer off and there is already another set underneath. I also went on and registered for this white crib skirt.

Changing Table/Pad – I bought my Summer Infant Changing Pad from a consignment sale for $3! I also purchased the Summer Infant Chevron Cover. As far as a changing table I chose to use my sewing cabinet that my mother purchased for me. It has the perfect space underneath for diapers and creams. There are so many creative ideas for changing tables that won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

Mobile- Both mine and my husbands ancestors were Native Americans. We drove all the way up to Cherokee, North Carolina to buy a dream catcher that was handmade by a Native American Indian.

Diaper Pail – I purchased a small trashcan when I decided I would try out cloth diapers. If you are thinking about cloth diapering your little one you will need to not only invest in a diaper pail but liners as well. Make sure you register for a pack of two so that way you can have one in the washing machine while using the other. I have yet to cloth diaper my son because I wanted to wait until he was a little bigger, but I use it for all his dirty clothes.

Glider – My grandparents bought this swivel glider for us. I went on and purchased a lumbar pillow to give extra support in my lower back and a ottoman to prop my feet on. I bought the American flag themed ottoman at our local TJ Maxx. Neither are a necessity but I wanted to be as comfortable as possible when rocking my little man to sleep.

Amcrest Security Camera – There are so many baby monitors on the market. I did a lot of research but I could not find one that I liked. This is when I began to look into regular security cameras. This security camera allows me to watch our son on any device that we have. It also has two way audio and night vision. You can add a SD card so that way you can go back and look at what you are videoing. I love this feature because if I have someone over watching him I can make sure he is being well taken care of. You can also add on to the camera allowing you to have a full security system for your home. Plus, the price for this camera is much cheaper than most baby monitors.

Books, Books, & More Books – Don’t be afraid to put books on your baby registry. People loved not only sending me the books I had picked out but some of their childhood favorites as well. We now have over 30 books in my sons collection.

MyBaby by Homedics Soundspa – On The Go Sound Machine – This has by far been one of the best things we have bought. I had it hanging up in my sons nursery until one night he started to get very fussy. I tried rocking, singing and even dancing but nothing would calm him down. I remembered we had hung this little guy up in his room so I put it down in the pocket of our halo bassinet and turned it on. Now, he doesn’t go to sleep without it. It is currently hanging from his portable crib. I even took it with us on our first overnight trip. You will not want to leave the house without this bad boy.

Diapering

Infant Babymel Robyn Convertible Diaper Backpack – Black – I have honestly went through two diaper bags until I found the perfect one. I love carrying a backpack because it frees my hands whenever we are out and about. The only downside to this one is that it is hard to wipe anything off of the exterior.

Pampers Swaddlers /Huggies – You will want to stock up on some diapers. My son was over 8lbs when he was born and stayed in a newborn size for the first month of his life. I recommend purchasing two big boxes of the newborn sizes. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to diapers but I have found that there are pros and cons to all of them. I loved the Pampers for newborn stage but when he was in a size 1 I actually liked how the Huggies fit him. Now that he is in a size 4 we use Pampers Crawlers for daytime use and Pampers Baby Dry for night time. There are many people who swear by Target’s Up & Up or Honest Company brand. I have tried Honest Company and really like them but I hate there is no way of telling whether your baby has went to the bathroom. Don’t forget to sign up for Subscribe & Save through Amazon. You will get 20% off your diapers and they send them monthly.

Cloth Diapers – We have yet to start using cloth but as soon as we do I will update this post.

Wipes – I have tried Pampers Sensitive, Huggies and the Costco brand. Personally, I prefer the pampers sensitive wipes because of how soft they are.

Diaper Rash – There are so many different kinds to chose from but I really like the Aquaphor Healing Ointment. It says it relieves diaper rash within 6 hours and I can honestly say it has been a life saver. As for powder I recommend Caldesene Protecting Powder.

Munchkin Arm and Hammer Diaper Bag Dispenser – I keep one on my diaper bag at all times. You don’t want to be that person who throws their babies dirty diaper in a public trashcan for everyone to smell.

Wet Bag – Even before I decided to try cloth diapering, I went on and purchased a wet bag. There have been multiple times I have had to use it for when my son has peed on himself. You say it wont happen to you but I promise if you have a boy there is no way around it.

Laundering, Grooming, Bath & First Aid

Dreft – Honestly, I was a little worried that our sons skin would be just as sensitive as my husbands. However, this detergent has yet to irritate him. Make sure to stock up if there is a sale in your area. It can get a bit expensive.

Dreft Stain Remover – This is a must for all of those spit up stains.

WaterWipes – I used these to wipe him down until his umbilical cord finally fell off.

Fisher-Price Rinse ‘n Grow Tub – I love this tub! When he outgrows the sling portion we can use it as a toy holder for all of his bath toys.

Matimati Bamboo Washcloths  – These washcloths are so soft! I have honestly contemplated getting rid of all of our wash cloths and just buying these. They are worth every penny.

Muslin Cotton Baby Bath Towels – They too are on the expensive side but I absolutely love these! They are so soft they can second as a blanket.

Aveeno Baby Wash & Shampoo – There are so many different brands to choose from but we chose Aveeno and so far so good. We have yet to have any issues out of this product.

Aveeno Baby Lotion –  Like I said before you can find many different kinds but we love Aveeno. It is honestly a preference thing but make sure you do have baby lotion on your registry.

Wooden Baby Hair Brush Set with Natural Goat Hair – Being that I am a cosmetologist, I wanted the best brushes for my baby. Sadly, Waylon was born with not much hair. However he had very bad cradle cap so these brushes were perfect.

Grooming Kit – I chose this particular one because of how minimal it was. I have tried other grooming kits but this one seems to be the best. The nail clippers are perfect and I have never had any issues out of them.

Circumcision – If you decide to have your baby circumcised then you will need Vaseline and gauze.  The hospital will supply you with some but make sure you have extra.

Medibag Kid Friendly First Aid Kit – Everyone should invest in having a first aid kit.

Medicines – I made sure we had Infant’s Tylenol, Infants’ Motrin, and Gas Relief Drops.

FridaBaby Nasal Aspirator – This has been a life saver! Waylon had two colds, seasonal allergies and the croup within his first nine months. After taking him to the ER for croup the doctor said there is nothing better on the market than the NoseFrida.

MistAire Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier – This came in handy with all of the stuffiness Waylon was experiencing. The doctor wanted him elevated and have a humidifier on at night.

Nursing, Feeding, Teething

Burt’s Bees Burp Cloths– Honestly, you can get away with just using the cloth diaper inserts but if you wanted to use a regular burp cloth than these are great too.

Kiinde Breast Milk Storage Kit – I had planned on using these to store breast milk into but never got the chance because I had to quit breastfeeding. Since Waylon is now on baby food we could use these to store his pureed food. This starter kit has so many purposes and should be a staple in everyone’s registry.

Graco Swivi Seat 3-in-1 – Since we live in a pretty small house I didn’t want anything that was going to take up a lot of room. What I also love about this seat is that it converts with his size as he grows. It can be unstrapped and taken anywhere if need be. Plus, it is extremely easy to clean.

Ciao! Portable Highchair – Of course we added this to our list. We have not used it yet but we do plan on doing so soon. It is nice knowing we can go camping or do something outdoors and Waylon has his own seat.

Silicone Bib – Instead of getting the cloth ones I found these are so much easier. I love how they role up in your bag and you can easily wipe them off to get them clean. Make sure you register for two so you have a backup.

Munchkin Miracle 360 Trainer Cup – Even though it will be awhile before your baby uses these it isn’t going to hurt anything by having them on your registry.

Bottles – As for bottles I asked for three different brands just because I did not know which Waylon would take to. For instance, when he was first born he used the Avent Bottles. At around four months he started taking to Tommee Tippee’s and now he uses those and Dr. Brown’s bottles.

Boppy Pillow & Cover – Even though I was not able to nurse Waylon very long, this pillow still came in handy. It helped him sit up straight, he learned how to do tummy time on it and I would prop him up to watch Tarzan.

WubbaNub Infant Pacifier – Waylon never ended up using a pacifier but he still loves his WubbaNub for teething. Plus they are stinking cute!

OXO Tot Bottle Brush – Make sure to register for a few of these. I made sure to have extras so that way I didn’t have to run to the store when it was time to throw one away.

Spoons – Another add on item that you will use later on down the road.

Arm and Hammer Pacifier Wipes– I use these for his WubbaNub and teethers.

Safety 1st Teether – We have so many teethers but Waylon’s all time favorite is this one.

Munchkin High Capacity Drying Rack – A must for drying your bottles!

Dr. Brown’s Formula Pitcher – This was a lifesaver when it came to mixing his goats milk.

Gear & Toys

Mo+m Ergonomic Baby Carrier – We love this baby carrier. It works just as well as the name brands but for a fraction of the cost.

Kaydee Baby Organic Cotton Reversible Teething Chew Pads – I am so glad I registered for these. I don’t know how many times Waylon would spit up on me while in his carrier. Thankfully, I didn’t get too much on myself because these pads would absorb most of it.

Infantino Compact Cart Cover or Multipurpose Scarf – Both of these can be used to cover a cart. The scarf is multifunctional for women who are nursing. We registered for both but you do not have to.

Boba Wrap – This is another option to a baby carrier. I loved using this one while grocery shopping.

Graco DuetSoothe Swing and Rocker – They no longer sale the swing we have but this is the closest one I could find. I would lay Waylon in his so I could clean up the house while he napped.

Fisher-Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat or Bumbo – Both of these are perfect for teaching your baby to sit up.

Infantino Twist and Fold Activity Gym – A must on your registry. Waylon loved laying down and playing with the toys.

Animal Foam EVA Play Mat – Perfect for those who have hard wood floors. We have no carpet in our house so this has helped Waylon from getting hurt while learning how to crawl.

Fisher-Price Ultra-Lite Day and Night Play Yard – We chose this as our PacknPlay because it is smaller and multifunctional. It is easy to fold up and put away. We love the changing feature and how it seconds as a napping station.

Graco Doorway Jumper – When my sister first bought us ours I thought she was crazy. Now it is one of the only ways I can take a shower without him crawling everywhere. I love that it has a trey so he can eat his puffs while jumping.

Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo – Matthew’s family ordered us this bouncer and I have seen so many other people who have it. Trust me, you will love it too!

Joovy Zoom 360 Ultralight Jogging Stroller – Not everyone has to have a jogging stroller but we are very active. I was surprised at the quality of this jogging stroller. We have taken it out on gravel, pavement and off road and it feels secure.

Britax 2017 B Agile & B Safe 35 Travel System – I first wanted a Graco but the man at Buy Buy Baby talked me into this Britax Travel System. I am actually glad he did because of how lightweight it is.

Accessories

Baby’s Record Book – I wanted something to keep all of Waylon’s firsts in. This book has far exceeded my expectations. I continue to still use it today.

Pacifier Clips – We registered for these thinking Waylon would use them and he never did. I wouldn’t call this a must have on your registry but if you wanted to have them just in case then that doesn’t hurt either.

Back Seat Mirror – After struggling with postpartum, this item gave me such piece of mind while driving.

Baby Boo Bunnie Cube – I don’t know about you guys but I had one of these while growing up. We called ours the boo boo bunny. So of course I had to put one on our registry.

A Lullaby Journey Through Scripture – We haven’t used this yet because Waylon usually falls asleep to his sound machine but I do plan on taking it on road trips with us.

Skip Hop Bandana Buddies Soft Activity Toy – This has been Waylon’s favorite toy. I don’t know what it is about this puppy but he loves it.

Harry Potter Baby Muggle on Board Vinyl Decal Sticker – Yes we went there. If you know me well enough you know that I am obsessed with Harry Potter. I get so many compliments on this sticker.

I hope this has helped any of you who are starting their registry. I know it can be such a pain and overwhelming but hopefully this can at least guide you in a better direction. I am all about good deals so if I see any of these items on sale I will be posting them on my blog. Also, don’t forget to subscribe!
