How To Lose Baby Weight Without Breastfeeding

Throughout my pregnancy everyone told me that my body would bounce back quickly. I was 120 pounds when I found out I was pregnant and the morning my water broke I was 157. When I left the hospital I was down to 139. If you have read any of my previous post about goats milk or post partum depression you already know that our experience with breastfeeding was short lived. I began researching how to lose baby weight and I couldn’t find any articles for women who were NOT breastfeeding.

Please be kind when viewing my before and after photos!

Obviously the first eight weeks after delivery were spent healing. At my eight week checkup I was 135lbs and I had decided to try an IUD for birth control. Not even forty eight hours later I had put on four pounds! Which took me six months to lose. During that time I worked out every day. I joined the BBG community and even broke out my old Insanity videos. During this time I tried to eat healthy but my biggest struggle was not taking in enough food.  So when I went in for my eight month post partum checkup I had the IUD removed and within a week I was down to 133.

Around this time I decided to join our local Burn Boot Camp. If you have one in your area I suggest trying it. There are Groupon passes you can purchase for 30 days. It was by far the best workout I’ve ever experienced. I began making more time for myself to eat and was watching my overall calorie intake. I did a total of 45 days with them and it brought me down to 131.

If you are new to my blog then you probably missed my breast reduction story. I was struggling with upper neck and back pain and my doctor referred me to see a plastic surgeon. So around ten months post partum I went in for surgery. Because of how petite I am I knew I wouldn’t lose a ton of weight but it did bring me down to 129. I was worried during my eight weeks of no physical activity that I would gain my weight back but it was not the case. I actually lost two more pounds right before my doctor released me. Bringing my total weight to 127.

It’s only been a few weeks since I’ve been released to workout and I can already tell my body is out of shape. I ran a mile in 11:26 compared to my 8:01 pre pregnancy. I still have a little bit to go to be where I want to be but I am finally feeling confident in myself again. I knew it would be hard losing my weight but not to this level. Yet I actually like the way my body looks now compared to what it used to be. Since having Waylon I actually have curves which is somewhat nice. I am only two pounds from my overall goal weight.

In the end, what I’m trying to get to is that every body is different and just because you don’t breastfeed doesn’t mean you can’t lose the weight. Make sure to take care of yourself and let your body heal. It took nine months to get that way so give it to time to bounce back. If you aren’t breastfeeding make sure you are taking in healthy foods and getting the proper amount daily. Your body needs that energy to fuel itself. I have listed below some easy meals to help. If you plan on being home full time with your baby the Bikini Body Guide and Burn Boot Camp are both great options! Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Overnight Oats – Meal prep them on Sundays for the week.
